This site is Wildly Her ADV, run by Emily Huck. It is a personal blog about adventure motorcycling, RV travel, and working on my own machines. This page explains what information the site collects, why, and what you can do about it. Plain language, no lawyer voice.
The short version
- I use affiliate links. If you buy through one, I may earn a commission at no extra cost to you.
- I do not collect anything from you directly. There are no signups, no forms, no newsletter and no accounts, and comments are turned off. The one thing that does measure anything is Google Analytics, which tells me which posts get read. It is aggregate, not personal.
- I do not sell your data. I have nothing to sell and no interest in doing it.
- If you leave a comment, that comment and the details you enter are stored.
Affiliate links and partnerships
Some links on this site, particularly on the gear pages, are affiliate links. That means if you click through and buy something, I may receive a small commission. The price you pay does not change.
I am a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com.
I also work with a small number of brand partners. Where a post is about a partner, or where a link is a partner link, it is disclosed in that post. If I have not used something, I do not link it.
Analytics
This site uses Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages and posts people actually read, so I can make more of what is useful.
It records things like which pages were viewed, roughly where in the world the visit came from, what kind of device was used, and how you arrived here, for example from a search engine or a link. It does this using cookies and similar identifiers. It is reported to me in aggregate. I cannot see who you are, and I have never tried to.
If you would rather not be counted, Google publishes a browser add-on that turns it off across every site that uses Google Analytics: Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. Blocking cookies in your browser also works, and this site will still function normally.
Cookies
Cookies are small files a site stores in your browser. On this site they come from two places: Google Analytics, described above, and any video you choose to play, described below.
There are no accounts to log into and no forms to fill in, so nothing sets a cookie to remember you personally. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time and the site will still work.
Comments
Comments are turned off across this whole site, so there is no comment form and nothing for you to submit. Nothing is collected this way.
Embedded content from other sites
Posts on this site may include embedded content, most often YouTube videos. Embedded content from another website behaves exactly as if you had visited that website directly. Those sites may collect data about you, use cookies, and track your interaction with that embedded content. That is their behavior, under their policies, not mine.
How long anything is kept
There is nothing of yours for me to keep, because nothing is collected directly. Google Analytics retains its own aggregate data according to Google’s standard retention settings.
Your rights
If you have left comments on this site, you can ask for a copy of the personal data held about you, and you can ask me to delete it. This does not include data I am required to keep for administrative or legal reasons. If you are in a region with specific data protection rights, such as the UK, the EU, or California, those rights apply here too.
